Hi, My Name is “Bill” – ARO Sporting Events- Olympic Day at Horsetooth Reservoir!

IMG_20160629_105648“Bill Bell” lent me his life jacket last Wednesday, and we enjoyed an amazing, lovely, warm and fun day with friends out on Horsetooth Reservoir.   The Fort Collins Adaptive Recreation Opportunities program (ARO) allows me to enjoy a variety of water sports, and today was no exception.  If you clicked on the blue words, then you know a new window opened up on the ARO page and now you can sign up to participate.

We enjoyed friends, sunshine and sparkling water.  Check out our day on the lake!

We all enjoyed friends everywhere, interns getting silly on paddle boards, adaptive kayaks so I can participate, and of course my new name!

Thanks ARO for another refreshing and relaxing day.  IMG_20160629_114342I do believe it is time to paddle away.  See you at the next ARO day!

(Thank you, Bill, for the life jacket – safety first!)

An Awareness and Arts Day at T.R. Paul Academy of Arts and Knowledge Kindergarten

Nick, with his Awesome in Action team, was fortunate enough to be invited to speak to the kindergarten class at the T.R. Paul Academy of Arts and Knowledge (TPAAK)this week.  Nick thoroughly enjoys keeping it real with young people as they find his method of speaking (a speech device) and his method of walking (atop his flaming hot rod wheelchair) so fascinating.  In turn, he helps them understand things like walking, or rolling, the way he does, and speaking with a mechanical voice. He shows how he is able to write his story books and run his business.

On this occasion, the class offered some great ideas for what Nick’s next adventure might be!

Thank you to T.R. Paul Academy of Arts and Knowledge for an exhilarating afternoon with your students.
