I Love to SKI FAST – Sochi Winter Paralympic Games Begin

Do you know how much I love to snow ski!?
I don’t let CP stop me! One of my favorite things to do is get out of my wheelchair and SKI FAST with my buddies from Ignite.  I’m sad to say Sunday is my last ski trip of the season at Eldora Resort in Boulder, Colorado.  Soon I will be off to other adventures like; adaptive water skiing, kayaking and rafting.  Spring and summer is just around the corner.

Cathy Olmsted, a 2nd grade teacher and friend of Nick Roussos teaches at University School in Greeley, Colorado. She invited Nick to spend some time in her classroom, and he accepted without hesitation. The situation is a mutually beneficial relationship. Nick gets to help children with their learning, not only academic but also social and emotional development. Children get to know Nick, a man in a wheelchair who doesn’t speak but uses a communication device to talk. As they interact with him on a bi-monthly basis they learn to accept and benefit from seeing and working closely with someone very different than themselves. Nick, mostly dependent on others for his daily living, has the opportunity to help in an educational setting. He is the author of “Helping in Action”, soon to be released. This is his first book targeted for children and showing that anyone, anywhere can help if they put their mind to it! –Sue Kittel
