Trunk or Treat fun in the Spooky Season!

I hope you have a fun and safe Holiday. I had a great time this year participating in two local Trunk or Treat events.

The first one we joined was with Fort Collins Best located at the Holiday Twin Drive In Theater in Fort Collins, and boy was it big! We had over 600 kids visit our fishing booth!

Niki and Olivia came and helped manage the crowds! It was cold, but that didn’t stop all the kids from joining!

We met some really great people at the Trunk or Treat, and had constant lines of kids that wanted to try our game!

Nick met a few families dressed in group costumes! He really loved the Little Mermaid themed family that included Ursula!

His former speech therapist, Mallory, stopped by with her kids! They had grown a lot since he’d seen them last!

Nick’s favorite part of this Trunk or Treat was meeting the wolf from the Red Riding Hood story at the very end of the day! Here he is trying to be brave, with Niki by his side helping him to meet the Big Bad Wolf!

Last weekend, Nick joined Pharoah’s Car Club to have another booth at their Trunk or Treat!

Nick’s Aunt Jodie joined the fun, and Nick was very proud to show off his booth to her!

The booth was a lot of work, so this Fisherman had to take a quick break with his pipe!

Nick braved meeting BeetleJuice, but he didn’t stay with him long!

He loved all the creative awesome cars that were at the Trunk or Treat!

Fisherman, Brendan, Nick’s newest job coach, joined us in the sea for the event!

Thank you to all the members of Pharoah’s Car Club for inviting Awesome in Action to this event! Here we are with Beverly, the chapter president! These folks are always so kind and accomodating!

Have a safe and happy Halloween all of you awesome people!

COVID Safe Activities Week Two: Halloween Edition!

It’s spooky season everyone! This week Nick wanted to share some ideas for having a fun and COVID safe Halloween. Nick loves getting to dress up in a costume, and he is very excited to be able to go back out trick or treating this year with his friends. You definitely don’t have to wait until the 31st to start the Halloween fun though! Here are a few things Nick has been doing to prepare for Halloween.

Last weekend, Nick went to “Something From The Farm” pumpkin patch with his friends to pick out pumpkins to decorate. It was super fun, and the great thing about outdoor activities is that a mask is only necessary if you’re in a big crowd. Nick spent time looking for the perfect pumpkin, and afterwards he got to watch the pumpkin trebuchet, which is basically a giant catapult that shot the pumpkins super high in the sky and all the way across the farm! There was even a corn maze and a hay maze, and Nick got to feed the chickens on the farm. It was a great way to spend the Saturday.

After the pumpkin patch, Nick wanted to decorate his pumpkin. He didn’t have a pumpkin carving kit, so he decided to paint it instead. Nick chose to paint a witch because he wanted a scary pumpkin, and he says witches are scary!

Very happy with his work

Once Nick had his pumpkin painted and set up outside to scare all his neighbors, he started unboxing all his Halloween decorations so he could get them set up inside. Nick enjoyed setting up the decorations to scare his care providers and friends. Even if you don’t have any fancy decorations, you can always make your own by cutting out some spooky bats, or filling a sheet with tissue paper to make a creepy ghost!

Of course, one of the best things about Halloween is all the candy! Nick wanted to think of a way to make handing out candy safer this year, and he came up with the idea to make individual goody bags. The bags were super easy to make, and all you need are some small baggies, a little ribbon, some stickers, and plenty of candy!

All ready for Halloween!

Nick hopes this post gives you some ideas for a fun and safe Halloween. Do you have any fun Halloween traditions? Let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to check back next week for some more fun COVID safe activities!

Happy Halloween everyone, and stay safe!
