The Rotary Clubs of Fort Collins know how to put on a festival….what could say summer better than peaches?

Last Saturday, we were lucky enough to attend the 6th annual Peach Festival- a fundraising event that helps the Rotary Clubs support our community through grants and hands-on activities, buy dictionaries for students, and eradicate Polio worldwide.

Rotary International is the world’s first service club organization with more than 1.2 million members in 34,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary Club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, eradicate polio under the motto “Service Above Self”.

Food, music, and fun could be found at the Peach Festival this year. With live music from The Seers, She & I, and Robert Wilson Blues Band; as well as demonstrations from the Wolf Pack and several cheer groups.

Thalia tries out the Velcro wall. Next year, I’m going to ask my brother to throw me onto it!

The Rotary Clubs raised over $73,000 last year for local charities last year at the Peach Festival. This year, there was quite a crowd, so we think it will be an even larger amount.

This is my new friend, Lucinda. She helps run an organization called UhamboUSA, that helps special needs people in South Africa.

The Rotary Club is an invaluable organization to our local community. We here at Awesome in Action are profoundly grateful to  those organizations that continuously give back to the community.
