Last month, Nick and his job coach had the pleasure of including several students in the production of a promotional video for Awesome in Action. Working with students at Ripple Effect in a real live classroom setting helped Nick and his Awesome in Action team realize just how dedicated these individuals are. In this black belt immersion program, students are extremely disciplined and astonishingly talented.

Although we had a blast, it was a  challenge to persevere through several hours of filming.

All involved had to remain focused and give it their best in order to create the best shots for the film.  For the younger actors, this was especially tough!

Thank you to all of the film participants, You were all great actors, and we loved working with each and every one of you!

Special kudos and thanks, to “ninja Nick” (Nate Zwisler, who will be 12 in July), who had quite the work out during the battle scene.

Nick and his team had so much fun watching Nate battle 3 adult instructors, and pile them on top of each other over and over again for the film! We got tired of counting the number of takes that were filmed of this scene, but Nate NEVER got tired! He is a very resilient and hard working karate master!

Hiya! Nate always had a strong finishing battle cry!

Nick  especially loved chasing Nate down in his own battle at the end of the filming session.

We are so excited to see THAT epic battle footage!

We are lucky to utilize the experienced and talented videographer, Jamie Peak, and her team. Jamie worked hard with all involved to get the shots she needed for her video creation.

In addition, Cindy Peak, a director and actress in the Encore! Encore! organization, is working with Awesome in Action as the director in this soon-to-be released quality short film!

Nick says he feels “honored, happy, and proud,” that these two great organizations and all the amazing people within them have teamed up to help him bring to life a vision that he has been talking about for over a year!

An Awesome Time Pumping up the Black Belt Candidates of Ripple Effect!

Hiya!

It may have a been a bit scary to see 50+ black belt candidates performing a powerful set
of karate skills as they slowly advanced upon us, but the experience was well worth it.

The Awesome in Action team was privileged to meet with these dedicated students and to present to them the “Why Try” speech, a motivational talk that helped encourage the participants to get through their challenging weekend full of testing to earn their black belts!

The warm-up exercises alone looked exhausting!!

kickMaster Macy had the students balance mid-kick for a 50 count!  “1 sir, 2 sir, 3 sir…”

Nick Karate move

Nick got to practice along with the students! He is hoping to earn his white belt soon with Ripple Effect.

In addition to Nick’s speech, the students did some of their form testing (Scroll down to videos to see some of their impressive techniques), and participated in a combat workshop. Their entire weeken was full of extraneous testing and physical activity. These are some resilient folks!
